Contio equipment is suitable for shops to ensure that operations can run smoothly without the need for staff or cashiers. Contio self-service payment equipment provides business owners with tools for allowing secure entry for verified customers as well as providing self-checkout payment options with self-service payment kiosks.

Secure Entry

Shops are outfitted with security measures for granting entry to verified customers.


For maximum security, shops may implement a combined door and turnstile entrance method which can be unlocked via the Contio mobile app after customers verify their identity. This combined method is highly effective in preventing the entry of unidentified persons.

Other options include entry via a sliding or ordinary door with authentication and identification via the Contio mobile app.

Customer Identification & Verification

Customers complete a one-time identity verification process through the mobile app to gain access to the shop. Alternatively, businesses may issue a customer membership card usable for shop access and payment via reloadable credits.

The registration process for the membership card option is up to the discretion of the issuing business. Options for verification include a valid phone number or ID card fully in accordance with GDPR and the anonymisation of verified data.



The mobile app contains an access key to the store premises, displayed only to customers with a registered identity. The app is available for both Android and Apple iOS devices.


The Contio app outlines purchase history with a detailed view of electronic receipts. It also contains
the contact details of registered businesses and a map of nearby unmanned shops.

Get to Know Your Customers

The web application aggregates categorised and itemized purchase information in order to enhance sales and marketing operations. It also stores customer demographic data which gives business owners detailed insights into their customers shopping habits, allowing the business to adapt their product range to suit demand or create targeted or personalised offers.
